Writing My Novel: The 30k Milestone and Beyond!

This past week was spring break, or as it’s known in my home, No Pants Week.

While pantsless, I did a great deal of writing on Lineage, the sequel to Birthright, and on my upcoming steampunk serial novel that we’re tentatively titling Nimbus.

Since February 13th, I have passed the 34,000 word mark on Lineage and the 12,000 word mark on Nimbus. That’s a lot of writing this month. That’s 46k words in under 30 days. It’s almost NaNoWriMo numbers. In fact, by March 13th, there’s a damn good chance I’ll hit the 50k total marker, winning NaNo just four months after everyone else. Tee hee.

It feels good.

I didn’t realize how much I’ve been writing lately, but looking at my numbers, I am well above my current estimate. I thought I would only be at 20k on Lineage by now, and I didn’t even know I was going to be working on Nimbus. There’s just something about finding that flow, being able to love something so much that it doesn’t even feel like work.

At this rate, I am definitely going to be able to finish all three novels I have planned for this year, and have at least two fully edited, revised, and uploaded to Amazon.

So that’s what my 2012 looks like. What about yours?

  1. Damn Beej. That’s all I can say. That’s a lot of writing in one month’s time. However, I can understand. If the ideas start flowing, you can breeze through a lot of ground really quickly. Yay for writing!
